Tonight is a Board of Supervisor Meeting, 7:30 PM at the Township Building. Although the agenda does not include further budget discussion, citizens are certainly welcome to bring up budget comments/concerns under ‘New Matters’. The 2010 budget will be voted on at the December 21 Board of Supervisor Meeting, so I suggest that if you have strong opinions you need to be there tonight to offer your comments. If you recall, the draft budget passed at the November 30 meeting without any changes. There is still time for budget discussion, but the clock is ticking!

Tredyffrin Budget Cuts
The budget cuts to the Paoli Fire Company and the Paoli Library are confusing to me. Here are two organizations that employ outstanding cost efficiencies – that is: the Fire Company is volunteer and the Library has a lease that is free – through Wachovia Bank and has been since the Library moved into the building in the late 1980’s. These cost savings alone should discourage any budget cuts compared to other line items that have and should been acted upon, like cutting hours of a township employee that got time and a half for sitting at the leaf collection site on Saturdays. While I’m quite aware that everyone has something that they do not want to see cut, there are just some money streams that if cut may endanger the well being and advancement of our community. Let’s let the “powers to be” know that these cuts should be reversed so there is no disruption or compromise of services to our Paoli residents and businesses.
