Community Matters* is a community-based blog that I started in November 2009. Community Matters explores issues that are important to our community including Tredyffrin Township, Tredyffrin-Easttown School District and the surrounding areas. The sharing of information, thoughts and ideas helps all of us; together we can learn from each other.
Every voice deserves to be heard and I hope that readers will join the conversation on Community Matters. It’s important to be part of the place where you live; to be a part of your own community. Community reminds us of who we are, where we come from, and where we can go together.
I am passionate about this community and have been actively involved for the last 2 decades.
A strong supporter of historic preservation and serve as the President of Tredyffrin Historic Preservation Trust, www.tredyffrinhistory.org I have chaired the Annual Historic House Tour since its inception 9 years ago and it has become one of the most popular and anticipated annual Trust events.
My love of history and its preservation is a daily ‘I walk the walk’ mission at our 300-yr. old historic home, the Great Valley House of Valley Forge, www.greatvalleyhouse.com . As the owner and innkeeper of this wonderful historic bed & breakfast for the last 27 years, I have been honored to host guests from all over the world.
In addition to historic preservation, for 27 years, I have been a member of the Noteables, a women’s singing group and also serve as its public relations person.
I am honored to serve with my friend, Marie Thibault, as the co-chair of the Paoli Blues Fest www.paolibluesfest.com, an annual blues festival and street fair held the first Saturday of October in Paoli. With a record crowd of 15,000 visitors in 2012, the festival has grown in 4 years to become the largest annual blues festival in the greater Philadelphia region.
